I’m fully in the book writing groove.
The things that work for me in writing are:
Morning Pages.
3 pages every morning by hand. It trains me that I’m a writing thinker these months, this is how I process things.
Daily meditation.
This builds my concentration skills. I can see what mind I’m working with each day and let that decide what I tackle.
Mood music.
I’ve written 8 plays listening to Air’s The Virgin Suicides soundtrack, but it wasn’t working this time. I went to the bookstore a few weeks ago and heard a radio show on the university station, it was ambient and I liked the way it made me feel. I listen to it a few hours a day.
Excursions! Every day I plan an outing like a walk by the river, buying flowers, sitting in the sauna, or going to the herb store. Nothing too long, just time to step away and process.
Not discounting what I’ve already made.
As a prolific content creator, I copy and paste stuff from my courses and videos and use that as a launch off for a topic in my book. I inspire myself.
Talking it out.
I haven’t done this for weeks, but when I first got started on the book I felt I couldn’t get the right words out through writing. I recorded & transcribed it. In the early days, just use what works to get it out.
